    PAMASKONG HANDOG 2025: Sharing Christmas Cheer with the UP College of Law Community

    This December, the UP Sigma Rho Fraternity held Pamaskong Handog 2025, a Christmas thanksgiving event for the staff and personnel of the UP College of Law across its BGC, Diliman, and Iloilo campuses on December 11, 15, and 16, respectively. The Fraternity reached over 450 members of the UP Law community through food packs, meals, raffle prizes, and games. The project filled the day with celebration and every recipient received a meaningful token of appreciation. Pamaskong Handog reflects the Fraternity’s gratitude and commitment to giving back to the University that has supported it through the years.     TATAK SIGMA RHO: Rise for Education Alliance UP Diliman x #TulongIsko UwanPH Relief Ops

    Last November 11, 2025, the UP Sigma Rho Fraternity, in partnership with Rise for Education Alliance UP Diliman and the #TulongIsko UwanPH Relief Operations, extended timely aid to communities affected by the recent heavy rains in UP Diliman. Relief efforts reached Pook Arboretum, Pook Malinis, and Pook Libis, where 103 relief packs, 150 hot meals, and 50 medicine kits were distributed to families in need. Guided by the spirit of service and compassion, the initiative delivered timely assistance to the affected households. We extend our deepest gratitude to all volunteers and supporters who made this mission possible. We uphold our role as a campus force through unwavering service. For the spirit of service, Fight!     TATAK Sigma Rho: Service to Community, Compassion for Humanity

    Last October 26, 2025, the UP Sigma Rho Fraternity held an outreach program in partnership with the KaTuWang Niya Movement at Hospicio de San Jose, the country’s first charitable institution founded in 1810 and managed by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. Home to abandoned children, the elderly, persons with special needs, and women in crisis, Hospicio de San Jose stands as a sanctuary of compassion for Metro Manila’s most vulnerable. Guided by this mission, the Fraternity and their partner organization brought together more than 40 elderly people for an afternoon of shared meals, painting, and fellowship, aimed at fostering dignity, care, and joy among the residents. Through this initiative, the Sigma Rho Fraternity reaffirms its commitment to service beyond the University, continuing a tradition of extending empathy and action for those in need. Caguioa in his Separate Concurring Opinion in the landmark case of Pimentel III v. House of Representatives, where the Supreme Court ordered the return to PhilHealth of PHP 60 billion previously transferred to the National Treasury. In his concurrence, Justice Caguioa drew from Robert Sanders ’15’s Philippine Law Journal article, “Unprogrammed Appropriations, the Budget Ceiling, and the Accountability Constitution, 98 Phil.         [SIGMA RHOAN APPOINTED THIRD SECRETARY AND VICE CONSUL TO BAHRAIN: Excellence in Foreign Service and Consular Affairs] The UP Sigma Rho Fraternity congratulates Charlie Prenicolas '08 on his appointment as Third Secretary and Vice Consul of the Philippine Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. Prior to his current posting, Charlie Prenicolas ‘08 served at the Department of Foreign Affairs – Office of Consular Affairs (OCA) as Assistant Passport Director, where he played a key role in advancing passport services and upholding the integrity and sanctity of the Philippine ePassport System. He also contributed to the drafting and consultations for the New Philippine Passport Act (Republic Act No. 11983) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). Earlier, he served as Principal Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the same office. His appointment exemplifies the Sigma Rhoan tradition of a Leader dedicated to public service and the protection of Filipino nationals overseas.
